Although the Mangosteen
juice has taken the world by storm, a lot of people still are asking as to what
exactly is a mangosteen juice. Look no further for the explanation of the same.
The mangosteen
juice happens to be a juice of a tropical fruit called Mangosteen (it has
nothing to do with the fruit Mango). The mangosteen fruit has an outer rind,
inner flesh and seeds. The juice is made by liquefying the entire fruit
including the rind and seeds as they too are very beneficial for the body.
The mangosteen
is grown mostly in the Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Philippines and
Malaysia. But due to the ever increasing demand, they are also cultivated in
India and Brazil whose climate is suitable for growing mangosteen. Once called
a “miracle cure”, this juice contains a large quantity of xanthones and
antioxidants which can benefit the body in a number of ways.
The mangosteen
fruit is about the size of an apple. It has a thick rind on the outside and
white segments like that of an orange on the inside. It also has large seeds.
The mangosteen is known to be a very rich source of several types of minerals
and vitamins. These include vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C,
potassium, iron and calcium. The demand for the Mangosteen juice is very high
in the western countries, however the fruit cannot be cultivated in those
countries and hence it has to be imported.
A lot of studies
have shown that the Mangosteen fruit or the much popular Mangosteen juice may
help in curing a wide array of ailments. They are known to help in the cure of
anything from bacterial infections to dysentery and sometimes even cancer. All
of these benefits are widely contributed to the large quantities of
antioxidants and xanthones that are found in the entire fruit.
The mangosteen
juice has been used by the natives for several years. They were used for curing
diarrhoea, dysentery, dehydration and fever just to name a few. They were also
used to prevent the infection of cuts and bruises. They were widely used as an
antibiotic, anti – inflammatory, anti – viral, anti – histamine and also as an
anti – aging agent.
Studies have
shown that consuming a large quantity of antioxidants is beneficial for the
body since it helps in the fight against the free radicals. The free radicals
unfortunately destroy the cells in our body by stealing away some electrons
from them. The formation of free radicals in the body is inevitable. These
antioxidants give those free radicals the electrons that they need and hence
protect the cells and help them in remaining healthy for long. This in turn
helps the body in remaining younger for longer.
Although the
Mangosteen juice has anti – aging properties in them, they do not reverse the
process of aging. They merely slow down the biological aging of the body from
the time you begin consuming it.
Although studies
are still in the preliminary stages, so far all the results that have been
obtained show the Mangosteen in the positive light. So go on and drink this
natural health drink.
